Perfect. Just Perfect

Fort Morgan, Colorado - Thursday Night Forecast
Partly cloudy with a 10 percent chance of snow in the evening...then mostly clear after midnight. Colder. Lows zero to 10 below. West winds 10 to 15 mph after midnight.

Why spend your holiday in relatively pleasant San Francisco when you can enjoy the frozen hellscape offered by Northeastern Colorado?

Ah well. Love the family.

ROTK:EE - Preliminary Opinions

I'm about 50 minutes into 'Return of the King: Extended Edition,' after having watched the majority of the special features already. Some initial observations:

* Viggo = yummy (makes up for the geeky "king hair" he'll wear at the end)

* In general, the extras are scene extensions that offer more exposition on backstory, reasons things are happening. For instance, there's a great scene extension after Gandalf and Pippin first meet with Denethor. They walk out to the tip of the courtyard, overlooking Minas Tirith, and Gandalf talks about the Numerorean kings, the decline of Gondor, the methods of the Dark Lord, etc. All the while, you're treated to long, extended, flagrantly adoring effects pans of the city, the view, the landscape - completely beautiful.

More later...

Sorry for the Visuals

If this blog looks a little weird right now, it's because I've just been migrated to a new host and MT version. Still working to get the style sheets spruced up again. Thanks for your patience.

Atomic Bluestocking

Thanks to a pointer from Hellblazer, I've created my own superhero persona!

bluestocking1.jpg

Atomic Bluestocking - while a mild mannered marketing gal by day, by night she emerges to mesmerize the impressionable mind with waves of wit and, when all else fails, a blast of irreverance. Accompanied by her familiar, Daxisaurus, she strives to beat back the forces of stupidity and un-fun wherever they lurk, while maintaining her keen fashion sense.

Join the fun by using the Hero Machine.

I feel more super already.

Where Have I Been?

OK. So this Friday we're having a talk at work by Brewster Kahle, co-founder of The Internet Archive. When we booked him, I kind of took a gander at the site, but didn't really spend much time on it.

A couple of days ago, I got the urge to have some new Dead music, and knew that my friend, Dave, used something he'd called "eTree." So, I Googled up "Grateful Dead shows download" and looked in the results for "eTree." Clicked over, bagged a very cool show, was a happy camper.

So today, I decide to go over and find another show (it's addictive), and I take a good look at the page. There, up in the corner, is the logo for the Internet Archive.

Major duh, Lori.

Any-hoo, this site is so unbelievably cool, so chock-full of free, fab data, I'm beside myself. Down the rabbit hole I go, eating up my remaining gigabytes. I've already started looking at external drives to hold more data. Life's good.

Being boring and stupid and selfish is supposed to be a bad thing, remember?

Tonight's Southpark episode, "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset," was so amazingly vulgar and hilarious, I'm overcome. Catch it in the replays this weekend. A classic.
